Welcome! My name is Stoney. On the journey of life, many people find themselves feeling confused, tired, overwhelmed, stressed, or discouraged. Whatever path you may be on, you do not have to face it alone. I am here to support and assist you as you work through life’s challenges and move toward healing and growth.

Personal Philosophy

From the time we are born and throughout our lives, the experiences we go through shape who we are. Some of those experiences can affect us deeply and influence how we see ourselves, others, and the world around us.

My role as a therapist is to help you take control of your life and move toward self-actualization. I will walk alongside you and provide a comforting, accepting, and safe space where healing and growth can take place.

Therapy is a collaborative process. Together, we will identify your specific goals and develop a plan to overcome challenges and weather the storms of life. My passion is helping others reach a level of healing, freedom, and personal agency they may have never thought possible.

“Even if we don’t have the power to choose where we come from, we can still choose where we go from there.”

-Stephen Chbosky, The Perks of Being a Wallflower

Educational and Occupational Background

I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of North Texas and a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University. Since 2023, I have worked as a licensed therapist at Denton County MHMR.

I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD (CPT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD. My experience includes working with individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma and PTSD, OCD, grief, life transitions, and crisis situations.

Every person is different, coming from diverse backgrounds and facing unique challenges. My role is to meet you where you are and provide support that fits your needs. Because of this, I use a variety of therapeutic techniques and interventions tailored to each client.

My theoretical foundation is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, which focuses on how life experiences shape the meanings we attach to events and how those meanings influence how we see ourselves, others, and the world. Through therapy, we can explore these patterns and create space for new understanding and growth.

I also incorporate nonverbal techniques, such as sand tray therapy, when appropriate to support deeper processing.

When I’m Not Working

When I’m not working with clients, I enjoy spending time with friends and family, cooking, reading, and watching movies. One of my passions outside of mental health is brewing specialty coffee. I also enjoy visiting art museums and discovering new ones while traveling.

I find that works of art across all mediums reveal something about the artist’s perspective on the human experience.

Moving Forward

No matter what you may be struggling with, I am here to provide unbiased support in a safe and supportive environment. Together, we can work toward your goals and take meaningful steps toward healing. Today can be the first step on your journey.
