You’ve probably been here before.
Trying to make sense of something that doesn’t fit into a single answer.
You feel hurt… and you also understand.
You want change… and you also feel afraid.
You love someone… and also need something different.
And still, you find yourself trying to choose.
Which feeling is right.
Which version of the story is true.
Which part of you gets to stay.
But what if the goal isn’t to choose?
In writing And Also, I wanted to offer a grounded and compassionate way of making sense of emotional complexity. So often, we feel pressure to reduce our experiences into either-or thinking. This work invites something different—the ability to hold more than one truth at the same time without losing yourself in the process.
Drawing from my work as a therapist, as well as trauma-informed and relational approaches, I explore how we can begin to:
-
- Move beyond black-and-white thinking
- Make sense of conflicting emotions
- Respond with intention instead of reacting automatically
- Navigate relationships without minimizing our own needs
- Develop a more grounded and secure sense of self
This book is for those who find themselves holding competing truths—especially in relationships, identity, and personal growth. If you’ve ever felt like you had to choose between two valid parts of your experience, this work is for you.
This isn’t about making things easier.
It’s about making them more honest.
Because healing doesn’t come from choosing one truth over another.
It comes from learning to hold both.
Early Reflections on And Also:
“And Also beautifully pulls threads from narrative, neurobiology, and trauma informed therapies, weaving a tapestry of space and movement for anyone wrestling with internal or external relationships.
Through mindful, thought exercises, And Also guides the reader to see their life through a lens of personal strength and hope. To consider the challenge and weight of difficult and nuanced relationships alongside one’s need for connection and boundaries in those same relationships.
Stop. Take a moment. Breathe. Consider your exhaustion and fatigue and also your strength and resiliency. Consider your fears and struggles and also your hopes and dreams. And Also invites you to make challenging, self-authenticating choices, holding space for the honest beauty and pain of relationships…and also, Grow. Expand. Move.” – W. Bates, LMFT-S, LPC-S
“And Also is a wonderful and grounding read. I came to it during a season when my responsibilities felt overwhelming, and I found myself trying to make sense of competing emotions. What this book offered me was not a solution, but something more useful—a framework for holding both the struggle and the understanding at the same time. It helped me approach my own experience with more compassion and less pressure to “figure it out,” which ultimately created more space for clarity and steadiness.” – L. Heber, MFT-I, MLST
